Între evenimentele speciale ale celei de-a 26-a ediţii a Festivalul Naţional de Teatru – care debutează mâine în Bucureşti ! – se numără şi două valoroase workshop-uri, susţinute de personalităţi de înaltă ţinută ale scenei artistice europene din ultima jumătate de veac: Carolyn Carlson, Michael Pennington şi Ion Caramitru.

Prestigious workshops at the 2016 NTF
The National Theatre Festival will start tomorrow, October 21st, in Bucharest. Among the special events of the edition, we would like to point out two prestigious workshops, held by high ranking artistic personalities of the European stage over the last half a century: Carolyn Carlson, Michael Pennington and Ion Caramitru.

The workshop on Shakespearian monologue, presented by British actor and director Michael Pennington and the maestro Ion Caramitru will take place from Octorber 22nd to 25th, at the National Theatre, Bucharest.
The NTF event is an initiative of Ion Caramitru, appointed Shakespeare Cultural Ambassador in 2016 by the United Kingdom Embassy and the British Council Bucharest. The workshop is produced with support of the British Council and of the “Ion Sava” Centre for Theatre Research and Creation- NTB.
Michael Pennington (co- founder of the English Shakespeare Company, actor and director, speaker at Shakespeare conferences organised by the British Academy) has been invited by Emil Boroghină to participate, together with Ion Caramitru, at the 2010 International Shakespeare Festival, edition dedicated exclusively to Hamlet.
The collaboration of the two artists continued at the 2012 Ipoteşti Acting Workshop on Shakespearean topics and with a recital Shakespeare- Eminescu at London’s Kings Place, part of the program entitled Poet in the City, organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.
Both Michael Pennington and Ion Caramitru are among the 10 best actors to have played Hamlet, according to a ranking done by Michael Boyd, former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Carolyn Carlson Masterclass at NTF 2016
American choreographer and dancer Carolyn Carlson, key player in the rise of French and Italian contemporary dance, is one of the special guests of the NTF. For over four decades, since 1971, she has significantly influenced the contemporary dance scene and has
been extraordinarily successful all over Europe. She has created over a hundred choreographic works, many of them remaining emblematic for the modern history of dance.
The NTF presents two of her creations with the dancers of The Carloyn Carlson Company: Short Stories and NOW.
Carloyn Carlson will also give a 3-days masterclass for Romanian actor- dancers, choreographers and ballet dancers, as follows:
