Țăndărică Animation Theatre presents Beauty and the Beast, directed by Bobi Pricop, a contemporary interpretation of the classic tale. The set design, created by Oana Micu, introduces 3D-printed puppets that bring the characters to life in expressive ways. The puppets not only illustrate the characters’ inner transformations but also highlight the emotional complexity of the story as they learn to love and to be accepted.

Under Bobi Pricop’s direction, the production deepens its themes by using technology to emphasise the authenticity and vulnerability of the interactions between the characters. This blend of technology and narrative turns Beauty and the Beast into a visually stimulating and modern experience.

Țăndărică Theatre’s Beauty and the Beast transcends the boundaries of traditional theatre, offering audiences of all ages an opportunity to reflect on the transformative power of love and the importance of acceptance. It redefines the art of animation through an innovative and creative approach that should not be missed.

“Theatre tells stories, and I am interested in discovering the relevance these stories have for today’s people — how a fairy tale about a curse cast by a witch and a beast isolated in a magical castle can resonate with the world around us.

Beauty and the Beast, perhaps, speaks most clearly about the times we live in — a story of salvation, only this time, the prince is the one being saved. From himself. The monster within him must be tamed — a monster fed by anxieties, fears, mistrust, and anger. By an ego that has turned a dream into a nightmare. This is what I was interested in exploring in Beauty and the Beast, this inner journey the beast undergoes, the way he confronts his deepest fears (especially the fear that he cannot or does not deserve to be loved) and how not just love, but also understanding, unconditional acceptance, and a touch of kindness can save us. From the beast within.” (Bobi Pricop)
