MINA – a space for multidisciplinary research and creation
Designed as a spectacular multimedia journey, [IN BETWEEN] offers an immersive experience about connection, inner worlds, taming technology, exploring the boundary between the real and the virtual, between body and avatar. Blending contemporary dance, acrobatics and new media, the performance invites us to delve into the “unknown” digital world, so present in our lives, at the threshold of the (super)natural and the extraordinary.
As in a high-tech fairy tale, the heroes of the performance are ten dancers and acrobats who take us on an astonishing immersive adventure through multiple dimensions, exploring the symbiosis between the human and the artificial.
From the very start of the show, the performers outline precise shapes, entering into a routine that seems infinite. Throughout their performance, their bodies synchronise into perfect harmony, pulsating as one body and generating exuberant energy. Each movement contributes to a stronger whole until all the dancers become a unique entity. The communication between projections and body movements adds an additional dimension to the performance, creating optical illusions and transforming the body into a universe between the real and the virtual, between human and avatar. The dancers’ graceful and slow movements reveal human essence, while the precise and rhythmic movements suggest a digital and mechanised world governed by algorithms. These two aspects harmoniously blend, complementing each other.
