Act I
Matilda is born into a neglectful family, with parents more interested in personal pursuits. She finds solace in books and creates imaginative stories. At school, Miss Honey recognizes her exceptional intelligence, but is thwarted by the tyrannical headmistress, Agatha Trunchbull. Matilda discovers she has telekinetic powers and begins to rebel against the abuses of her parents and Trunchbull.

Act II
Matilda continues to develop her powers and resist Trunchbull’s tyranny. She realizes that the story of the acrobats she imagined mirrors Miss Honey’s tragic past. With the help of her classmates, Matilda successfully drives Trunchbull away. In the end, Miss Honey becomes the new headmistress, and Matilda stays with her while her family flees to Spain.
