Choreographer Miriam Răducanu’s creation, in dance and theatre, bears the imprint of both an extremely rigorously applied methodology and an unbridled innovative freedom. Together with personalities who have been marked by the intensity of the collaboration with Miriam Răducanu, in performances that have made history in the Romanian performing arts scene, we will define the traces left by the artist and we will reconfigure defining aspects of her creation.
A dancer and a choreographer, the artist whose name is linked to the phenomenon of the Nocturnes of the 1970s, played at the Țăndărică Theatre, a teacher who defined the path of some of the strongest actresses and actors, Miriam Răducanu means both the consistency of dance history and the persistence of a past that is constantly reinventing itself. This year, the NTF associated itself as a partner with National Dance Center Bucharest (CNDB) and their events initiated by and dedicated to the memory of artist Miriam Răducanu, whose 100th years from birth take place on October 17.
The event Miriam Răducanu. To destroy in order to create is part of a larger project organised by National Dance Center Bucharest and Rezidența9 dedicated to the choreographer and dancer Miriam Răducanu and the impact she has had on many generations of artists to come. Between September 27th and October 19th, Rezidența9 is hosting a large exhibition dedicated to the artist MIRIAM RĂDUCANU. An exhibition – archive with senZe.
On October 19, at 12:00 AM, in the exhibition space, the NTF event Miriam Răducanu. Destroy to recreate. will take place. It will be followed by a performance by Lari Giorgescu, who will present excerpts from the monodrama Dream Poetry, based on verses written by Emil Botta.
The entire initiative based around the artist’s creation will end with another NTF event, the performance The Nocturnes. Gigi Căciuleanu / Confession (concept by Gigi Căciuleanu), scheduled on October 20th, at 09:30 PM, at Bulandra Theatre Bucharest, Liviu Ciulei Hall.
