SILVIU PURCĂRETE. 50 years of creation
The exhibition will be presented during the National Theater Festival, with the support of the Bucharest Biennial of Scenography, in video format. 108 images and 10 videos will recreate Silviu Purcărete’s spectacular universe into an installation. The photographs have been selected from the director’s personal archive and are signed by Simon Annand (Royal Shakespeare Company), Mihaela Marin, Iulian Ursachi, Patrick Fabre, Dorian Delureanu, Sean Hudson, Pierre Borasci, Thilo Beu, Silviu Purcărete, Rareș Zaharia, Adi Bulboacă, Eöri-Szabó Zsolt, Helmut Stürmer, Peter Uhan, Aki Tanaka, Petru Cojocaru, Aoi Itoh, Nicu Cherciu.
“With each performance, Silviu Purcărete creates impressive galleries of paintings, juxtapositions of light and shadow. Master of the chiaroscuro and painter of destinies, from ancient tragedies or Shakespearean comedies, which he (re)visits with passion and curiosity, he is like a collector of beauty. The exhibition is, beyond the intent of recovering the memory of his performances from these 50 years of his career, an opportunity to rediscover the joy behind theatre and the playful generosity of the director Silviu Purcărete.” (Adriana Mocca)
The exhibition can be visited between 18-28th of October.
At the opening, the album „Silviu Purcărete. Infinite metamorphoses” by Mihaela Marin will also be launched.
