Performance in Romanian with English surtitles

«The play is filled with comic situations, confusions and mistaken identities and its humour is emphasised by irony and sarcasm. ”The Reviser” had a major impact in Russian literature and was appreciated both for its humorous nature and its subtle social critique. It became one of the most frequently played texts in Russian theatre history and it was adapted to various film and television productions ever since.

With the double quotation marks required, I ”envy” my colleague actors for this. I ”envy” them from a place of enormous love. I think this is the type of joy that should be brought to life within more Romanian theatres, both public and independent. The joy of an audience that sees a performance that manages to detach itself from the mundane, from daily struggles, while taking you to a fictional yet realistic universe, a truthful but painful one. Painful but comic. I deeply hope for this performance to have a long life, to be seen by many. I feel grateful and I wish to thank all who made this production possible!» (Ștefan Lupu, Small Theatre Manager)
