In the current socio-political context, increasingly divided and dominated by the rise of far-right movements, the show At Dawn, the Light Is Harsher proposes an emotional-reflexive foray into the history of a tragic destiny.
At Dawn, the Light Is Harsher centers on the story of Olga Bancic, an emblematic figure of the anti-fascist resistance. The personal and political history of Olga Bancic is the history of radical actions of challenge and individual and collective struggle against fascism. Today, more than ever, revisiting the 30s and 40s is a fundamental gesture of awareness of a turbulent, nationalist, extremist past, which can help us deeply understand our present.
The show is based on extensive research of the archives, of the files of anti-fascist fighters, members of the illegal communist movement, and the press of the 40s, published in Romania and in France. At Dawn, the Light Is Harsher is based on documentary material, explored theatrically through fictional means.
