Duration: 1h 30min
Moderated by: Mihaela Michailov, curator of RFNT Educational

This year, RNTF Educational hosts a special encounter in which Radu Afrim, one of Romania’s most innovative theatre directors, meets with youth theatre groups from Bucharest.

Radu Afrim will speak to the young participants about his beginnings as a theatre director, his university years and artistic training, the influences that shaped him, the necessary detachments along the way, and the courage to assume and refine aesthetic concepts initially perceived as provocative or shocking. He will also share reflections on artistic vulnerability and moments of insecurity.

FNT Educational brings together members of youth theatre groups and an artist who creates fragile yet playfully imaginative worlds, the author of performances that have marked the recent history of Romanian theatre. Together with the participants, Radu Afrim will revisit defining moments from his career—those that shaped his artistic identity and turned him into a creator who, with every production, recodifies the world around him in a deeply personal way.
