Everything Is Theatre Photographic exhibition by Hullan Zsuzsa

Opening: 20 October | 17:00 – „I.L. Caragiale” National Theatre Bucharest, Media Hall Foyer

FREE ACCESS

The Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre in Bucharest proposes a new partnership with the National Theatre Festival. It consists of a remarkable photo exhibition by Zsuzsa Hullan, actress of the Vígszínház Theatre (Comedy Theatre) in Budapest.
The uniqueness and authenticity of the exhibition come from the fact that the author had the opportunity to capture images from angles and places inaccessible to others, and at moments and in ways that only members of the acting profession can.
This series of photographs also includes the work In Red, which was named Photograph of the Month for August 2024 in the CEWE Hungary competition.

“Photography, for me, is the imprint of a spoken word, a fleeting moment, a lived gesture. What once existed there and then can be brought into the here and now. My photographs often unfold like emotional serpentines, like labyrinths—they are meant to touch, to surprise, to reveal a hidden perspective, as if seen with a third eye.

As an actress, I witness rehearsals and performances from certain angles from which the audience will never see them. I felt compelled to share these moments. What interests me—whether on stage or behind the camera is that that isn’t immediately visible. I like to reveal people, situations, and emotions with nuance and subtlety.

This exhibition presents moments normally remain hidden to outsiders. I know I’ve succeeded when a photograph, or a scene in the theatre stirs thoughts and feelings in the viewer that spark a genuine sense of wonder and awe.” (Hullan Zsuzsa)
