This year, on the 100th anniversary of Eugene Ionesco’s birth, the National Theater Festival attempts to recreate the world of his plays, very present on world stages. Thus, Bucharest audiences may choose among three staged versions of [i]The Bald Soprano[/i], one of which, directed by Jean Luc Lagarce, a production of Les Intempestifs company in Besancon, France, will open the National Theater Festival. The participation of this show in the 2009 NTF was made possible by the Embassy of France to Bucharest and the French Institute. The show will be hosted by Odeon Theater Saturday, October 31, at 19.00, and Sunday, November 1, at 16.00. The other two performances of the famous [i]The Bald Soprano[/i] were produced by the National Theater in Cluj (stage director: Tompa Gabor) and the German State Theater in Timisoara respectively (stage director: Alexandru Dabija). The latter comes to Bucharest with support from the Embassy of Germany to Bucharest and is presented in the German Culture Days. The Romanian shows are included in the second Romanian Showcase, supported this year by the Romanian Cultural Institute. Aside from the shows, the famous playwright will be present at the NTF in related events. Thus, the basement of Carturesti bookstore on Verona St. will host Friday, November 6, 16.30 the launching of a NTF Collection book published by UNITEXT: [i]Theater of the Absurd[/i] by Martin Esslin, translated by Alina Nelega. In [i]Theater of the Absurd[/i], first published in 1962, and revised by the author in 2001, Martin Esslin first used this term to define the writings of four dramatists: Samuel Beckett, Eugene Ionesco, Jean Genet, and Harold Pinter. The following will attend: the playwrights Alina Nelega and Vlad Zografi (co-author of the most recent translation of Ionesco’s works into Romanian) and the theater critic and researcher Marian Popescu. The goal of the NTF Collection is to have essential books about world theater translated and published in Romanian, while it endeavors to enrich research and knowledge in Romanian theater at this level. Furthermore, the 2009 NTF complemented the festival program by a partnership with Radio Romania Cultural. Between November 1-8, RRC will broadcast, daily from 19.00, radio shows based on Ionesco’s writings: [i]The Bald Soprano[/i], [i]The Killer[/i], [i]Rhinoceros[/i], [i]Victims of Duty[/i], [i]The New Tenant[/i], [i]Frenzy for Two or More[/i], and more.

Festivalul Naţional de Teatru continuă şi În acest an iniţiativa caritabilă de succes care a debutat În urmă cu două ediţii: licitaţia „Dăruind vei dobândi” de la Artmark.
Preocupat În aceeaşi măsură de valoare şi de soarta oamenilor care pun În valoare actul artistic / Festivalul organizează sâmbătă, 29 octombrie, Începând cu orele 12.00, la sediul Galeriilor Artmark (Strada C. A. Rosetti, nr. 5), o licitaţie cu diferite obiecte de artă, obiecte personale sau artefacte-mărturii ale activităţii teatrale, oferite de către artişti de seamă ai momentului sau de familiile acestora.
Sumele strânse din vânzarea acestor obiecte vor fi donate programului caritabil iniţiat de UNITER / Campania Naţională „Artiştii pentru artişti”.
Lider al pieţei de artă din România, Casa de Licitaţii Artmark este primul organism de acest gen din ţară ce funcţionează la standarde internaţionale, cu peste 80 % din totalul tranzacţiilor publice de artă şi de colecţie din România, care, În cele 225 de licitaţii organizate În opt ani de existenţă au vândut peste 25.000 de obiecte de artă.
Licitaţia caritabilă desfăşurată sub genericul „Artiştii pentru artişti” va scoate şi anul acesta la lumină peste 50 de lucruri personale donate de actori sau de familiile şi prietenii acestora / obiecte-martor Încărcate de emoţie umană şi artistică: schiţe celebre de decor şi costume din spectacole memorabile, lucrări de grafică, pictură sau fotografie, bijuterii, precum şi alte artefacte aparţinând unor momente de graţie petrecute pe scena românească de-a lungul timpului. Amatorii de artă care se vor afla la sediul Artmark din Palatul Cesianu-Racoviţă În penultima zi de Festival se vor pune, prin achiziţiile lor, În slujba celor ce-au oferit În viaţa petrecută pe scenă sau din culise, emoţia.
Între donatori Îi veţi regăsi (conform ordinii alfabetice a licitaţiei) pe: Puiu Antemir, Irina Bârlădeanu, Coca Bloos, Dragoş Buhagiar, Diana Cavaliotti, Ştefania Cenean, Horaţiu Mălăele, Maia Morgenstern, Sibila Oarcea, Ruxandra Onofrei, Anca Pâslaru, Viorica Petrovici, Anca şi Daniel Răduţă, Helmut Stürmer, Mihaela Teleoacă, Iuliana VÎlsan s.a..
