A cello’s breath among angels and demons

The National Theater Festival is heading to its last gong. Meanwhile, a theatrical weekend is still separating us from the final evaluation. Saturday, 2 November, at 19:00, the actor Ion Caramitru will present the lecture-show Poetry’s Breath in the Multimedia Hall of the Bucharest National Theater. Besides the metaphoric title, the recital will reveal details of reciting techniques, explained by one of the greatest connoisseurs and poetry reciters of Romanian theater. If poetry is “the way to the other”, Ion Caramitru seems to rediscover it with every breath, in casual communication with the audience that will take the time to listen at leisure. Adrian Naidin’s cello will accompany him.

From uttered poetry to written word is a small step. A new book whose protagonist is the stage director Alexander Hausvater will be launched in the foyer of Odeon Theater’s Majestic Hall before his show of Adam and Eve, after Liviu Rebreanu, a production of Timişoara National Theater. Saturday, 2 November, at 20:30, the theater critic Cristina Rusiecki will present her book On Dictators and other Demons. Julius Caesar / Rehearsal Diary, published in the ATENT collection of Timişoara National Theater. Observations, interviews and other artistic samples from the birth three years ago in that theater of a political show after a Shakespearean play, a trans-historical meditation on power games, unchanged for millennia.

But, before saying farewell to the 23^rd edition of the National Theater Festival, let us make good and beautiful use of the few remaining days / with theater shows, films, recitals, new books or, why not, an interesting discussion about theater.
