The invisible becomes visible in “The GIGI CĂCIULEANU Space” at NTF

Autumn has come! Nervously, with an open heart, the Capital is getting ready for the 23rd edition of the National Theater Festival. New related events are added to the selected shows every day: concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, book and magazine launches, workshops, symposia, conferences, debates.

The perpetual concern of theater people / How do we make the invisible visible? / will find an illustration in “The GIGI CĂCIULEANU Space”. The CHOREOSOPHY workshops “Wind, Volumes, Vectors” bring forward the philosophy of Choreographic Theater: the transformation of the invisible energies of the Wind into the visible Volumes of the body, through the Vectors of dance.

An artistic director, choreographer, pedagogue and Choreographic Theater “animator”, Gigi Căciuleanu grew under the direct influence of two contemporary dance stars: Miriam Răducanu and Pina Bausch. A recipient of many prestigious awards such as UNITER’s Special Award (2010) and ROMAinDANZA Award for Lifetime Achievement (2011), Gigi Căciuleanu works around the world and, for more than ten years, has been the director of the National Ballet Company in Santiago de Chile. Transcribing into dance Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana (Târgu-Mureş National Theater, 2012) and Mozart’s music in Mozart Steps (Radu Stanca National Theater in Sibiu, 2013), or rewriting Caragiale’s world in the original language of Choreographic Theater, in the memorable Mess Around (Bucharest National Theater, 2012), and the poetry of Shakespeare’s fools into Renaissance dances (presently in the works at Bulandra Theater), Gigi Căciuleanu enlivens, seduces and tames the spirits of the artists he works with.

His NTF workshops will take place between 26-30 October. Actors and theater students willing to accept the metamorphosis Actor-danceActor are invited to register. The limited number of vacancies will be completed in the order of registration. Applications must be sent by e-mail to [email protected] no later than 16 October 2013.
