One day before the opening of the National Theatre Festival 2015 (October 23rd– November 1st) young actors George Albert Costea and Gabriel Costin, together with actor Mihai Dinvale spoke to the audiences about the performance ”The History Boys” by Alan Bennet, a production of the Excelsior Theatre, translated, designed and directed by Vlad Cristache.

Mihai Dinvale, actor in this performance and, at the same time, director of the Mic Theatre showed his enthusiasm for the impact of the performance onto the spectators. It’s a very complex show, dedicated to young people, to parents and to teachers, even for those in their first years of college, tackling many existential topics and treating them in a humorous and age- specific nonchalant way. These young guys are such a great joy to be with, they are the good quality future of Romanian theatre acting”. Mihai Dinvale also added that, due to director Vlad Cristache, the cast have turned into a charming group with each member having his well-defined identity.

Actor George Albert Costea, who plays the leading pupil added:”This performance is part of a very good trend, that of creating theatre plays for adolescents. I would be happy to know school kids could come see it, not only in Bucharest. We have to create a young audience, people who will come to see performances centered on topics that interest them. This text is a necessary one in the theatrical and educational landscapes we have”. George Albert Costea continued saying the idea of the NTF Passage is an extraordinary one, one that follows the initial spirit of theatre “which in old days was performed in public squares”.
While the young actors were offering autographs, Mihai Dinvale, now in his quality of manager of the Teatrul Mic, spoke about “Cat’s House”, part of the NTF selection and about how important it is to let young people come to word. ”The text of the play offered fantastic parts to three actresses (Emilia Dobrin, Ilinca Manolache, Andreea Grămoșteanu). It’s about the condition of the woman, about the degradation of women inside this world they do not get to understand. We are very interested in young playwriting, these authors pay a lot of attention to what happens in society”.
