Theatre critic Mircea Morariu spoke at this event about the books of Călin Ciobotari- a doctor in theatre.
The first book / “The director, this…” is a collection of interviews in which the author challenged a few of the directors who at that point were staging in Iaşi to talk with him: on the stage of the “Vasile Alecsandri” National Theatre, on the stage of the “Luceafarul”, on the stage of the Tătăraşi Atheneum, but also on the stages of independent theatres, as Mircea Morariu remarked.
It’s about the directors which belong to a diverse generation, amongst which are Gábor Tompa, Mihai Măniuţiu, Claudiu Goga, Radu Alexandru Nica, Vlad Massaci, Felix Alexa, Anca Ovanez. They are interesting way of probing “ the way to conceive the art of the theatre which the author proposes in the given interviews” and they should be kept, “in order to help someone at some point to reconstitute the career of the interviewed directors, the theatre critic said.
The book “Emil Coşeru, our actor” presents the personality of an artist who “confounds himself with the profile of the National Theatre of Iaşi in the past 45 years”. An actor of great notoriety, with countless roles, memorable roles, Emil Coşeru is also a professor of Acting at the “George Enescu” Art University.
Mentioning that the name of Emil Coşeru is deeply intertwined with a work of renewal, Mircea Morariu thought it important to say that the actor is among those who remade the Iaşi acting school, that he honoured his profession of professor with great dignity and outstanding results.
The idea of “Golem. Myth and show with director Alexander Hausvater” began with the show of “Golem”, which Hausvater staged at the Iaşi National. The author presents a “unique theatrical experience about an universe dominated by myth and magical thinking, having at its core the golem, an anthropomorphic being inspired by Jewish folklore”.
The book enjoys a preface signed by academic Răzvan Theodorescu and holds three chapters: “Showings of the Golem- short history of this old European cultural motif”, signed by Felicia Waldman; “Epiphany through theatre, Alexander Hausvater, from <<Teibele and her demon>> to <<Golem>>, signed by Oltiţa CÎntec and “This fascinating Hausvater”, an interview by Llana Cojocaru.
