78 year old Herta Gärtner, a physically and mentally healthy woman, does not want to live anymore since her husband died. She requests a drug to commit suicide. Doctors, lawyers, priests, ethics specialists, the state and society doubt they can help her. The Ethics Commission discusses the case.
In this new play, Ferdinand von Schirach basically negotiates human death. And, just as in his first play, Terror, each of us needs to give a sentence in the end. Whom does our life belong to? Who gets to decide about death? Who are we? And who do we want to be?
