The National Theater Festival in Bucharest between 24 October and 2 November

Organized by UNITER, the Ministry of Culture, Bucharest City Hall, and ARCUB, the National Theater Festival is scheduled between 24 October and 2 November 2014.

The artistic director of the Festival is theatre critic Marina Constantinescu (above), on her second term at the helm of the event.

During her first term (2005-2007), Marina Constantinescu also insisted on the development of the structure of the National Theater Festival, and since then ,the 10-day duration and the international participation became established. The latter is important for a festival that, though not a competition, is a venue for meetings and dialogue between creative people who can influence theatrical movements.

Bucharest audiences were then able to attend performances from Romania and abroad focused on a central theme: the Director.

The National Theater Festival earned visibility and impact because its international opening meant not just a pertinent reflection of Romanian theater, but more importantly direct contacts between stage directors, producers, artists, festival directors that generated various other projects.

After seven years, during which the Festival opened up to the audience even more and went through all sorts of crises, financial and otherwise, it is now ready for a new form of dialogue and communication, hoping to offer even more of a good time.
