Duration: 1h

The conference will include a series of debates about concepts that are at the base of set design creation and light and video design, but especially methods and ways to transform these ideas in stage realities, be they physical or virtual ones

Because the art of set design moves on the edge between creation and execution, a dialogue between those who draft the future of this field – such an important one in the world of theatre – becomes a highly valuable one particularly nowadays, in these generally insecure times.

The Set Design Exhibition of the Set Design students at UNATC (The National Theatre and Film University) will be viewable, and it can serve as a starting point of a dialogue about set design schools.

The combination of sketches and spectacular layouts shows the professional environment the students at the Set Design Department have to comply with. Creating this exhibition was the task of I. year university students (coordinated by univ. lect. Dr Maria Dore), II. year university students (coordinated by prof. dr. Ștefan Caragiu and assistants doctoral candidates Maria-Alexandra Ivan and Mădălina Sandu), III. year university students (coordinated by univ. lect. Imelda Jipa). The involvement of Master’s degree students alongside graduates is a proof of the solidarity of those attending the Set Design Department and of the collaboration between various generations of professionals.

The entire event was organised by the Department director, prof. dr. Ștefania Cenean and by conf dr. Ștefan Caragiu. Its aim is to promote performance among students and present quality materials that highlight the work of these future set design professionals.
