Münchausen

9 November | 21:00 – I. L. Caragiale National Theatre Bucharest, Atelier Hall
10 November| 18:00 – I. L. Caragiale National Theatre Bucharest, Atelier Hall

This is a complex performance in which the character alternates in a perfect balance both the game and the innocence with the drama and the confession, where he smoothly slips into fantasy only to then delicately come back to a harsh reality. He makes a lucid and amused analysis of his journey, finally accepting it and thinking that this way he will ensure his own survival over time.

“MÜNCHAUSEN” is the story behind the stories, a psychological and ironic re-imagining of the famous baron’s adventures. The monologue captures Münchausen’s attempt at unraveling – of acknowledging lies and reconciling with the world, of confronting the society that mocked him and becoming a part of it again through honest confession. At the same time, confession is an opportunity to reevaluate his relationship with reality, but also to find again the balance which was  by the incongruence between his own self-image and the way he is perceived by others.
