Children of the Night

13 November| 17:00 – Bulandra Theatre, Toma Caragiu Hall (Icoanei)

Six students, a night that shapes stories, a tender and harsh insight into the world of rented studio apartments and student dormitories, a time in which characters are still candid and able to experience the miraculous, even if it shows up, in unlikely manners, on a student dormitory hallway in the middle of the night.

Lucid and humorous, Children of the Nightis a performance about candorand growing up, about that universe that is unique to young people or teenagers who must cross the limit of their age, but still linger between reality and phantasy. Alone in a world of adults (who starts to reclaim them, although they are still not a part of it), they are forced to cope with the unknown and the fear, having only the „weapons” of a young age that is, slowly but surely, leaving them. They enter this clash with imagination, inflamed feelings, belligerent attitudes, with lies that seem identical to the truth, with manufactured realities, music and movies.

These young people face maturity, the world, the system: a story written in the very DNA of evolution. A story told by 6 students, during a night in which the need for closeness, the fear of the unknown and the perspective of an adult life generate situation on the brink of reality. A performance with and for young people, Children of the Night  is based on the play that brough young actor Andrei Radu – as a playwright this time – the prize of the 2021 National Playwriting Competition, organised by the National Theatre in Timișoara.
