Movement and kite workshop
Coordinator: Cosmin Manolescu, choreographer
For teenagers over the age of 12

For two hours we will be playing with kites of various colors and shapes, some brought especially from Japan, and the children will take part in various exercises of movement, guided improvisation and observance of the body in relationship with the movement of the kite. This workshop also welcomes teachers for the movement exercises.

The format of this workshop has been successfully experimented in Japan, at kinosaki, at the residence dedicated to the Eastern Connections project, but also in Bucharest at the Replika Educational Theater Center, at a conference in 2017 hosted by choreographer Cosmin Manolescu. At the end of the workshop, students and teachers are invited to visit the AREAL space and to view the movie `What is contemporary dance?” together with the choreographer, as well as various short movies about dance that he created during the pandemic in Bucharest.

Cosmin Manolescu is a choreographer, curator and cultural expert, artistic director of the Paradis Serial company/Gabriela Tudor Foundation and co-director of AREAL – a space for choreographic development. His profound belief is that contemporary dance is a form of art that can positively change the lives of people regardless of age, sex or identity. Since 1997 he has played an important role in the development of contemporary dance in Romania and also the creation of the National Center for Dance. His performances and projects have been successfully presented in Bucharest, Cluj, Timișoara, Bacău, Paris, Lyon, Dublin, Porto, Lisabona, Amsterdam, Beirut, Riga, Seattle, New York etc.
