Imagine that you have the possibility to radically change yourself, exactly how you want it – would you truly have the courage to do it? The cinematic concert-performance ORLANDO TRIP of the Austrian duo ”Fox on Ice” was first presented in April 2023 at Oden Theatre in Bucharest and at the National Theatre in Timișoara, for Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture.
In this performance of music and poetry, the writer and performer Anna Luca Poloni and video artist Christian Mair update the story of a historical character and literary legend to our times, as he speaks of the greatest fear of man and of our society as a whole – change and the abandonment of stability. ORLANDO TRIP focuses on the myth of Orlando: its subject is primarily the initiation journey of a young man. Declared ambassador of the Ottoman Empire, he travels across the Mediterranean sea twice, however returning on his mother land as a woman. Orlando Furioso of Ariosto and the Orlando of Virginia Wolf are the main sources of inspiration. A history of the sea, a triumph of the depths of human mind and its fluidity.
The performance was recorded on 11 April, 19.30, at the Studio Hall, Odeon Theatre, where it was recreated with the help of the technical team of this institution.
