Frank Wedekind processed in his plays the morality befitting life’s urges. He unmasked it as hypocrisy and confronted it to a vision of the world that celebrates life and sexuality.

He could find the freedom and beauty of the people that embrace sexuality only in the socially excluded characters: circus artists, crooks and whores. Wedekind’s text is still up to date „because prejudices long thought gone as well as double hypocritical morality still haunt our daily lives, our society, politics, religion and, last but not least, today’s political correctness”, considers Set Designer Helmut Stürmer.
